The stands at the Myrtle Beach vs. Conway game on Friday, September 26 were electric. The game began after the football players completed their pregame rituals that happen before all games Coach Jordan says; “ We sing our team song in the locker room, take a knee and say the Lord’s prayer, and of course running down the hill.” The team uses all these things to pump them up and prepare for the game, and they sure did come prepared to the Myrtle Beach game. The players came in with an amazing mind set ready to win back the bell because it has been gone since 2011. Fans stayed on their feet as they cheered the tigers on to a victory. The Conway High School football team has made an amazing comeback; not only bringing back the bell, but joining the student body in flooding social media with posts using the hashtag #WPDESpiritConway to receive the WPDE spirit award. All around this was a very special and touching game.

At halftime the field housed a beautiful memorial to soldiers that have served in all branches of the military. American flags waved in the stands to the hymns of each service branch that was sung by the Conway High School chorus. Every heart in the stands was touched as ROTC students carried a flag representing each branch of the military and escorting veterans out onto the field to be honored. Those who had served that were sitting in the stands were asked to stand as their branch of the military marched out. The honoring of the soldiers ended with a tribute to all those that were MIA. “I always expect a win and I want the players to as well.” says Coach Jordan. Coach Jordan and the football players got what they were looking for on Friday night and the fans did as well. Conway High School has brought back the bell to its rightful home!
