Teacher of the Week: Ms. Jane Reavis
By: Abigail Calhoun
Ms. Reavis worked at New South Inc. in Conway for 14 years after earning a degree in Forest Technology from Horry Georgetown Tech. While working there she decided to go back to school and get her 4 year degree, and she got a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Coastal Carolina University. Once she finished that degree her aunt told her about a program the state of SC was doing to get people with 4 year degrees into the classroom to become teachers. Ms. Reavis looked into it, and decided that’s where she needed to be. Ms. Reavis said, “I think teaching is like any job. It has its good days and bad, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. Knowing that I’m helping young people find their path in life and be successful is what it’s all about.” This school year is her 11th year at Conway High School. She taught in Marion County at Creek Bridge/Terrell’s Bay High School for 4 years, and Loris High School for 2 years. Mrs. Reavis loves the feeling of community and family you get at Conway High School. We celebrate the wondrous things that happen together, and feel sad together when the not-so-good happens. Mrs. Reavis is the teacher of the week because she is always there for her students, and does so much for our school. She helps her students as much as she can. She is so easy to get along with, and it is a blessing to have Mrs. Reavis as a teacher at Conway High School.
